Project oversight

Before. During. After.

Poor workmanship can turn a new roof into a costly mistake. Most problems get covered up the same day they’re made.

We schedule inspection points around your contractor’s timeline so we can see the work that will soon be hidden under the next layer: decking, underlayment, flashing, valleys, edges and penetrations.

  • Materials checked on delivery for brand, condition and age
  • In-progress inspections before work is covered
  • Final inspection of the finished roof
  • Photo documentation and written findings for your records
  • Our yard sign in your front yard for the length of the job
Who’s working on your roof? Poor workmanship can turn a new roof into a costly mistake. Your project, our watchful eye.
How oversight works

From beginning to end.

Before

We review the contract and materials list, confirm the schedule with your contractor and set the inspection points.

During

We inspect the work in progress, check deliveries and document anything that needs to be corrected while the crew is still there.

After

We inspect the finished roof and give you a written record before you make the final payment.

Contract review

Read it with us before you sign.

A vague contract protects the contractor. A clear one protects you.

We go through the proposal line by line and tell you what’s missing, what’s unclear and what to ask for in writing.

What we look at

  • Exact materials: brand, product line, color and grade
  • Underlayment, flashing and ventilation details
  • Decking repair allowances and per-sheet pricing
  • Permits and who is responsible for inspections
  • Payment schedule and final payment terms
  • Workmanship and manufacturer warranties, and who backs each one
Metal roofing

Know where your metal comes from.

Not all metal roofing is the same, and from the street it can be impossible to tell the difference.

Before a metal roof is installed, you should have documents showing its point of origin, proof that it is not agricultural-grade panel, and how it is to be manufactured. We help you get that paperwork and check that what arrives matches it.

Ask for it in writing:

  • Point of origin of the metal
  • Proof it is not agricultural grade
  • How and where the panels are manufactured
Contractor vetting

Hire a roofer with a record you can check.

Bring us the contractors you’re considering, or ask us for contractors that meet our standards.

License & insurance

We confirm the license is active and in the same name as your contract, and that insurance is current.

Track record

Years in business under the current name, past customers, supplier relationships and recent work you can go see.

Complaints & warranties

Complaint and disciplinary history, plus whether the company will be around to honor its warranty.
